Westminster Baseball Sweeps Robert Morris-Springfield

FULTON, Mo. – Westminster baseball swept Robert Morris-Springfield in a two-game series Sunday afternoon.

The Blue Jays improve to 3-2 on the season. The team won the first game 9-1, and took the second game 27-5, finishing in seven innings.

Alex Dickneite started the first game on the mound for Westminster, pitching six innings and giving up zero runs and just one hit.

Blake Strebler started the game off by hitting a solo homerun, his second of the season. Later in the first inning, Nick Bohlmann drove in a run of his own to start the game 2-0.

Westminster added two more runs in the second inning on a double from Strebler and an RBI single from Will Stonecipher.

Adam Mundle and Tanner Branneky both homered in the game to give Westminster the win.

In the second game, a 12-run inning in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Blue Jays the advantage, ending the game after just seven innings. Ryan Gvillo and Strebler both drove in five RBI, including two home runs each, while Wyatt Ahart and Nick Bohlmann both had four RBI apiece.

Sam Huesgen picked up the win in the second game, bettering his record to 2-0. He went for five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits.

The Blue Jays stay at home to face Robert Morris-Peoria Saturday for a double-header starting at noon.
