Westminster Baseball Drops First Game To Robert Morris - Peoria

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster baseball dropped the first game of a three-game series to Robert Morris - Peoria, 10-4.

The Blue Jays fall to 3-3 with the loss. 

The Eagles scored the first runs of the game with two in the first inning, adding a third run to go up 3-0 in the top of the third. 

Westminster answered with its first run of the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly to center field from Nick Cessna, scoring Blake Strebler

From there, the Eagles went on a scoring spree, adding unanswered runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and ninth innings to go up 10-1. A four-run ninth inning that included two home runs for the Eagles put Westminster away late in the game. 

The Blue Jays made a comeback run in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three runs. The Eagles walked the bases loaded, and then added another walk for an RBI for Ryan Klimkiewicz

Adam Mundle put the ball in play to ground out to first, but added another run to score Ryan Gvillo. Strebler added the last run of the game on a single to score A.C. Long

Gvillo went 3-4 to lead the Blue Jays offensively. 

Sam Huesgen took the loss for Westminster, pitching five innings and giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out six. 

Westminster continues the series with a double-header starting at noon on Sunday.
