Westminster Baseball Drops High-Scoring Rubber Match to Fontbonne

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster baseball drops the final game of a three-game series to Fontbonne, 20-12.

Westminster falls to 12-8 overall and 7-5 in the conference, maintaining second place in their division. 

Brett Denney started on the mound for Westminster and went just two innings, taking the loss. The Blue Jays exhausted seven pitchers in the game. 

After Denney gave up seven runs, Thomas Kinney came in to salvage the game for Westminster. Despite giving up seven runs, Westminster scored six within the first three innings on six RBI from fice different players. 

In the middle innings, The Blue Jays traded runs with the Griffins, including a two-run homer from Blake Strelber. 

After five innings, the game was tied at 10 runs apiece. 

Ten runs in the sixth and seventh sealed the victory for Fontbonne. 

Westminster attempted to come back to RBI singles from Adam Mundle in the seventh and ninth innings, but it wasn't enough to overcome the damage. 

Strebler led the team with four RBI and 3-5 hitting with three runs scored on the day.

Westminster faces Blackburn on the road Monday at 2 and 4 p.m.
