Dennis Hughes joined the Westminster College athletic staff as head baseball coach in the fall of 2011. 

Hughes holds 152-103 record during his seven seasons at Westminster. During his tenure, he has guided the Blue Jays to six conference tournaments, including a tournament win in 2016 to send Westminster to the NCAA Tournament. During the 2016 season, Westminster held a record of 28-15, the highest win total for the baseball program since 2000. 

Hughes was named SLIAC Coach of the Year in 2013 after he led the team to a second place finish in conference play (17-6) in his second season with the team.

From the 2013-16 seasons, Hughes' son Deion played for the team and Dennis guided him to many accolades including D3Baseball.com Preason All-American honorable mention in 2014, D3Baseball.com All-American third team in 2016, ABCA All-American in 2014 (second team) and 2016 (first team), and ABCA All-Central Region teams in 2014 (first team), 2015 (second team), and 2016 (first team). In addition, Hughes coached All-Region selections Tanner Branneky, Tyler Brannkey, Collin Brinker, Will Miller, and Blake Strebler. 

Hughes graduated from Central Missouri and now resides in Jefferson City, Mo.
