EUREKA, Ill. - Westminster football was overpowered by a strong Eureka offense, losing to the Red Devils 48-6 on a wet and rainy day.

The Blue Jays fall to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

"It definitely was not a good day for us," said Westminster Head Coach John Welty. "All we can do is learn something from it and move on." 

The Red Devils came out strong, scoring three touchdowns, including a score from one of the league's top rushers, in the first quarter. 

Eureka tacked on another three touchdown in the second quarter to go into the half 42-0. 

"A positive that we can take away from this is that we didn't quit in the second half," said Welty. "We could have laid down, but we didn't quit and we played hard."

The Blue Jays recorded their only touchdown in the fourth quarter on a one yard rush from Kalyn Davis, his second touchdown of the year. 

Seth Cline led the recievers with 41 yards on just one catch. Matt Williams picked up 50 yards on two kickoff returns. Kalyn Davis led all rushers with seven carries and 45 yards, including one touchdown.

Defensive, three Blue Jays recorded double-digit tackles including Jackson Ringhausen, Darren Rice, and Clayton Bristol. 

Westminster returns home Oct. 14 for a noon match up against conference opponent Crown. After spending nearly 4,000 miles on the road in the first six games of the season, Westminster will play three of their remaining four games at home this season. So far, the Blue Jays are 2-0 at home. 

"We look forward to playing Crown and being back at home with the bulk of our travel being over," said Welty. "We're excited to play our remaining schedule mostly at home and finish strong."
