ST. LOUIS - Westminster men's basketball posted a big victory over Webster, 78-61.

The Blue Jays improve to 10-7 overall and 6-4 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. 

"We had a very balanced scoring attack with several guys in double figures tonight as well as a great game from Carter Wands," said Westminster Head Coach Matt Mitchell.

Westminster struggled in the first half offensively, scoring just 26 points, but holding Webster to just 29. 

Both teams traded points throughout the first half, but Westminster was led by Collin Caywood, who scored 11 points on 4-7 shooting. 

Westminster was able to double their point total in the second half, exploding for 52 points and holding Webster to 32. 

"We finally saw a few shots go in early in the second half tonight," said Mitchell. "That was a needed spark for our guys. We started sharing the ball well and did an excellent job of forcing turnovers and rebounding on the defensive end."

From the 17:30 mark to just under the 12 minute mark, Westminster went on a 14-0 run to start their offensive dominance in the second half, leading 48-38 by the end of the run. Another 9-0 run put Westminster on top by 15 at the 6:47 mark. 

Tanner Cochran hit six straight freethrows down the stretch to seal the big win for Westminster. 

Caywood and Cochran led the Blue Jays with 19 points apiece. Stu Hollandsworth added 13 points while Cody Shaw added 11. Carter Wands added 10 assists. 

Westminster returns home Wednesday to face Greenville at 8 p.m.
