Westminster Men's Soccer Earns First Conference Win

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Westminster men's soccer gets back to winnings ways with its first conference win over Blackburn, 4-0.

The Blue Jays improve their record to 2-6-1 and 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

"We had a great result and a great start to conference play today," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We did a really good job in the final third, creating quality opportunity and finishing them. We are starting to find a nice rhythm and we'll be ready for Greenville on Wednesday."

It wasn't long until the Blue Jays scored again, just seven minutes later, when Daniel Barone scored on an assist from Mauricio Matteo. 

Westminster kept pouring on the offensive attack in the first half, scoring their third goal from Patrick Wisnewski on an assist from Philip Udinyiwe. 

The Beavers added a goal in the 86th minute, but Cooper Smith scored his first goal of the season to keep the win for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays outshot Westminster 12-5. Connor Bandre played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves. 

Westminster goes on to face Greenville Wednesday at home.
