Westminster Men's Soccer Suffers First Conference Loss to Webster

ST. LOUIS - Westminster men's soccer suffers its first conference loss of the season to Webster, falling 1-0.

The Blue Jays fall to 4-7-1 overall and 3-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

"This was an extremely disappointing result," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We did a good job of dictating tempo in possession but lacked the character, precision, and touch on the ball needed to produce more quality chances. That let one poor play from our end decide the outcome of the game."

After a scoreles first half in which Westminster tallied six shots to Webster's two, the Gorlocks came out in the second half to score the lone goal of the game in the 48th minute.

Despite creating nine shots in the second half, the Blue Jays were unable to find the back of the net, dropping the match 1-0.

Raul Belman started in goal while Connor Bandre played the second half.

Austin Chandler and Daniel Barone led the offensive attack with three shots apiece.

Westminster returns home Saturday to face Spalding in a SLIAC matchup. First kick is set for 5 p.m.
