Westminster Men's Soccer Falls to Spalding

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster men's soccer falls to Spalding 2-1.

The Blue Jays fall to 4-8-1 overall and 3-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Westminster managed to play a scoreless 35 minutes, but a cross and tap in from Spalding in the 36th minute put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 going into the half.

"We had a really good first 15 minutes and a good last 15 minutes," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "Unfortunately, the 60 minutes in between lacked the passion and heart needed to compete against a quality side like Spalding."

Another goal from Spalding in the 70th minute made the score 2-0, forcing Westminster to up the offensive tempo.

The Blue Jays offense did produce one goal in the 79th minute on a goal from Daniel Barone, but the clock ran out before Westminster could stage a comeback.

Westminster led the offense, tallying 15 shots to Spalding's 12. Cade Rowlette recorded four shots while Barone registered three and the goal.

Raul Belman and Connor Bandre split time in goal.

The Blue Jays remain home to face Fontbonne Wednesday.
