FULTON, Mo. - Westminster men's soccer honored its seven seniors in its last regular season home game of the season, falling 3-2.

The Blue Jays fall to 4-9-1 overall and 3-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

"It was a good effort here tonight," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We gave up two very soft goals that were big mistakes on our end. That put us in a situation where we had to fight an uphill battle. We fought hard but fell a little short." 

The first goal came from the Griffins in the 17th minute when a ball passed back to goalkeeper Raul Belman took a bad bounce and the Griffins capitalized, heading the ball just past Belman who came out to make the save. 

Just four minutes later, Westminster retaliated with the equalizer from Jacob Skaggs, who was table to tap the ball in the far corner off of a corner from Daniel Barone. 

The Griffins took the last goal of the first half on an unassisted breakaway to make the score 2-1 going into the break.

Patrick Wisnewski scored on a ball from Austin Chandler in the 63rd minute to again tie the game, but Fontbonne scored just second later to put them up 3-2, which would be the final score. 

At halftime of the game, Westminster honored seniors Barone, Blake Hausman, Austin Chandler, Patrick Bromstedt, Belman, Mauricio Mateo, and Cooper Smith. 

"I'm very proud of all of our seniors," said Galla. "They've done an amazing job here at Westminster both on and off the field. We hope to maintain that successful standard they've set." 

Westminster goes on the road for the rest of the season, starting with Iowa Wesleyan Saturday.
