Westminster Men's Soccer Draws with Principia

ELSAH, Ill. - Westminster men's soccer played a double overtime match with Principia, drawing 1-1.

The Blue Jays are now 5-9-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, sitting in fifth place.

"It was a great team effort here tonight to pick up a huge point on the road," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "Our backline did an excellent job of defending against some very skillful attacking players. Now we're looking to finish the regular season strong this Saturday."

After playing a scoreless half, the Blue Jays struck first on a goal form Phillip Udinyiwe, assisted by Patrick Wisnewski, in the 47th minute.

Westminster was able to hold off the Panthers offense until the 81st minute, allowing the lone goal of the 120 minutes played.

Both teams managed 14 shots apiece. Westminster was led by Daniel Barone, who tallied four shots.

Connor Bandre started in goal, making seven saves.

Westminster completes the regular season and discovers their postseason fate Saturday at Eureka.
