ST. LOUIS - Westminster men's soccer, coming off of its fifth straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament win, was chosen second in the preseason poll based on a vote by the league's head coaches.

The Blue Jays earned an equal amount of first-place votes to leading Webster, who earned just four more points than Westminster.

Westminster returns a strong squad this season, including seven starters and 20 members of last season's team. Galla expects his 12 newcomers to make an impact to the team as well, which include two transfers.

At the top of the returning list is Patrick Wisnewski, who earned a First Team All-Conference nod last season as a freshman. Connor Bandre' is expected to make a strong start in goal after ending the conference tournament in 2017 as the Tournament Most Valuable Player.

After the team's exhibition at Drury, the Blue Jays officially open up the season on the road August 31 at North Central.
