Westminster Men's Soccer Drops Conference Match to Webster

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster men's tallied their first conference loss of the season, 4-0 against Webster.

The Blue Jays fall to 1-8-1 on the year and 0-1-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Despite the score, the match was a back-and-forth battle for two of the top teams in the SLIAC. The first half resulted in near-equal shot opportunities for either team. The Blue Jays had nine different players record a shot throughout the game, with no player recording more than one.

It took over 30 minutes for the Gorloks to find the back of the net, but then added back-to-back goals just minutes apart before the half ended to defalte the Blue Jays.

Westminster held strong to open the second half, but another Webster goal in the 57th minute and a made Gorlok penalty kick in the 67th minute were the final daggers for Westminster.

Webster outshot the Blue Jays 11-9. Connor Bandre' played all 90 minutes in goal, making five saves.

The Blue Jays remain at home, facing Eureka Saturday at 3 p.m. on the new turf at Kent and Judy Mueller Stadium.
