Lake Geneva, Wis. – The Westminster men's soccer team was defeated by Wisconsin-Whitewater 4-0. The Blue Jays drop to 0-2 on the season.
The Warhawks scored quickly in the 15th minute and again in the 17th minute to take a 2-0 led. Westminster buckled down and shut out Wisconsin-Whitewater for the rest of the first half and the majority of the second half. However, the Warhawks added two more quick goals in the 72nd and 73rd minutes.
Junior Chase Vogt (Mattoon, Ill. / Mattoon) started and played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves.
The Blue Jays tallied 12 shots, six on goal, but could not find the back of the net. Jephte Ngendo (Goma, Republic of the Congo) and Philip Udinyiwe (Boonville, Mo. / Boonville) led Westminster with four shots and three shots respectively. Each player has two shots on goal.
Next weekend the Blue Jays will play their home opener against Central (Iowa) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 7.
