Westminster Track Opens at CMU Early Bird

FAYETTE, Mo. - Westminster men's and women's track opened the 2018 outdoor season at the Central Methodist Early Bird Invite last Saturday.

The men's team placed 12th while the women's team finished in 11th. 

The highlight of the day for the Blue Jays was Jessie Kuykendall's second place finish in the 3000 meters in a tight race. She fell to Division II Missouri S&T by just .47 seconds, finishing the race in 10 minutes, 51.77 seconds. 

Westminster also had several student-athletes qualify for the finals, including Kjia Zuroweste in the shotput for the women's side. For the men's side, Kidd Sutherlin and Andrew Buckner qualified for finals in the 100 meters, Kole Rackers, Sutherlin, Buckner and Akeen Modica-Robinson qualified in the 200 meters, Rackers and Modica-Robinson qualified in the 400 meters, Joseph Labitska and Brian Sellenriek qualified in the 800 meters and 1500 meters, Sutherlin and Buckner qualified in the long jump, and Chris Idleburg qualified in the shot put and discus. 

Both squads take the enxt weekend off and will compete at Lindenwood University Saturday, March 31.
