Westminster Dominates in Home Opener

1/29/25 Fulton, MO – Westminster men's volleyball made a statement in their first home match of the season, sweeping Greenville in straight sets (25-22, 25-15, 25-20) to improve to 7-5 on the year. The opening set saw Westminster shake off early jitters before pulling away late to secure a 25-22 win. The second set was all Blue Jays, as they dominated at the net and took advantage of Greenville's errors to cruise to a 25-15 victory. Westminster closed the match with another strong showing in the third, holding off a late push from Greenville to claim a 25-20 final set.

A balanced offensive attack and strong defensive presence fueled the Blue Jays' win as they controlled the pace from start to finish. Khalil Peterson led the charge with a match-high eight kills, hitting an impressive .615 while also contributing five block assists. Dalio Taouil and Aidan Ortmann each added seven kills to keep the Greenville defense off balance. Jake Schawo-McAlister orchestrated the offense with 25 assists while also making an impact at the net with four total blocks. Defensively, Ryan Rhodes and Taouil anchored the back row with 12 digs apiece.

With the win, Westminster moves to 7-5 overall and will look to build on its momentum when they host St. Mary-of-the-Woods on February 4 at 6:00pm.
