
3/14/25 Fulton, MO– The Westminster men's volleyball team dominated on their home court in the first day of the tri-match, securing back-to-back sweeps over Simpson and Maranatha Baptist. With the victories, the Blue Jays improved to 14-12 on the season.
Match 1: Westminster 3, Simpson 0
Westminster opened the day with a commanding performance against Simpson, overpowering the Storm in straight sets. The Blue Jays came out strong in the first set, limiting Simpson to just nine points while hitting efficiently. Derrick Turner led the attack with eight kills and a .533 hitting percentage, while Lucas Brown posted six kills. Jake Schawo-McAlister controlled the offense with 17 assists. Defensively, the Blue Jays put up a strong net presence, with Khalil Peterson registering six block assists.
Match 2: Westminster 3, Maranatha Baptist 0
The Blue Jays carried their momentum into the second match of the day, sweeping Maranatha Baptist in a competitive battle. Westminster saw contributions across the lineup, with James Ormsby delivering a match-high of 10 kills. Connor Layman and Ethan Floyd each delivered nine kills. Keegan Nase orchestrated the offense with 37 assists, and Layman led from the service line with three aces. The Blue Jays had to grind out a close third set but sealed the match with a 27-25 win.
Westminster returns to action tomorrow for the second day of the tri-match, looking to build on their strong performance.
