Westminster Tabbed Third in SLIAC Preseason Poll

The Westminster softball team was tabbed to finish third in conference according to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Preseason Poll.

The Blue Jays return 13 players and seven starters to the 2016 season. The team will look to the experienced upperclass in the infield to lead the way while bringing in nine newcomers.

"We are looking to have more speed and power along with an already skilled and experienced infield and a pitching staff improved with the return of senior Shannon Perrigo after a season ending injury," stated Head Coach Joe Henderson. "We brought in nine new players and look to have an improved outfield this season."

The Blue Jays are slated to open the 2016 season at the Warrior Spring Fling hosted by Hendrix College on Saturday, February 20. The team's home-opener is set for March 5 with a double-header versus NAIA Stephens College, and conference play begins after the team's spring break trip to California on April 2 at Eureka College.

The Blue Jays finished the 2015 season with a 10-8 record in conference play and a fifth place standing. Overall, they finished with a 13-20 record.
