The Westminster softball team dropped two games to Greenville in the championship rounds of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament. After multiple rain delays, the Greenville Panthers outlasted the Westminster Blue Jays in the championship game, winning it 5-4 to send the tournament to the "if necessary" game. The Panthers went on to win the tournament with a 7-3 game two score, earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Jay's season came to a close with a 22-17 record, the third best in program history.

Greenville will learn their fate for the first round of the NCAA Tournament in the NCAA Division III Softball Selection Show on Monday, May 9 at 1:00 pm.

Greenville held a 2-0 lead over the Blue Jays in game one after the first inning. They added three runs in the third to take a 5-0 lead, but the Blue Jays put up two in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 5-2, Greenville. The Blue Jays brought in one run in the fifth. In the bottom of the seventh, they brought in one more run to cut the lead to 5-4, but the Greenville defense cut the Blue Jay's rally short, ending the game with a 5-4 loss.

The Blue Jays had seven players with one hit each. Freshman Taylor Sechler hit a double and scored one run. Junior Alyson Hahn (11-7) pitched the complete game in the circle. She struck out three while allowing three earned runs. 

The Blue Jays scored a run in the first, fourth and sixth inning of game two, but were out-hit 11-6 to lose 7-3.

Junior Erica Burney went 2-for-3 from the plate with a double, a RBI and one run scored. Senior Shannon Perrigo went 2-for-3 from the plate. Perrigo (11-7) pitched the complete game in the circle. She struck out six of the 36 batters faced.

Hahn, junior Alyssa Johnson and Burney were selected to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team.
