Westminster Softball Picked to Win SLIAC

ST. LOUIS – Westminster softball was picked to win the SLIAC in a preseason poll of the league's head coaches.

The Blue Jays earned six first-place votes and 72 total points to top the poll.

Following Westminster was Greenville (68 points), Fontbonne (66), Eureka (62), Webster (51), Spalding (46), Iowa Wesleyan (31), MacMurray (24), Principia (18), and Blackburn (12).

The Blue Jays are coming off of a 22-17 record in 2016, including a 13-5 SLIAC record. After earning a spot in the SLIAC Tournament, Westminster lost to Greenville in the championship.

Westminster begins play in 2017 Feb. 4 and 5 with a series against Maryville (Tenn.) and Rhodes College in Memphis.
