FULTON, Mo. – Westminster softball won both games over Wisconsin-Platteville in a Sunday afternoon series.

The Blue Jays improve to 3-5 on the season with the wins.

"Winning three of our last four is big for our confidence with so many young players," said Westminster Head Coach Joe Henderson.

Westminster won the first game 12-3 after five innings. The Blue Jays took an early lead by scoring three in the first inning with an RBI single from Mackenzie Myers, scoring two runs, and an RBI double from Katie Price.

A big third inning put the win away for Westminster, scoring seven runs on RBIs from Aubrie Vaughn, Anne Baker, Meyers, Amber Tepen and Josie Cotter.

In the second game, Wisconsin-Platteville put up a fight,  but in the end the Blue Jays took the 7-6 win.

Wisconsin-Platteville scored four runs in the first inning, but Tepen responded with a two-run homer of her own to put Westminster back in the game.

It was Tepen who hit the game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh to win the game for Westminster, sealing the sweep from Wisconsin-Platteville.

"These were big confidence wins and we are continuing to build," said Henderson. "I was very pleased with the day."

Alyson Hahn took both wins on the day, improving to 3-1 and giving up just three runs and three hits during both games. Tepen led the Blue Jays with six RBI on the day.

Westminster stays at home to face Buena Vista Saturday for a double-header beginning at noon.
