Westminster Softball Splits Against Wisconsin-Stout

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Westminster softball opened the Fastpitch Dreams Beach Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, by splitting 1-1 with Wisconsin-Stout.

In the first game, Westminster won on a run rule 10-2. Erica Burney continued her offensive dominance by leading the Blue Jays by going 3-4 with two RBI and one run.

Mackenzie Myers added to the run total at the plate, going 2-3 with two RBI and two runs. Josie Cotter added an RBI and a run.

Katie Price picked up her first-ever college win by throwing a three-hitter, allowing just two earned runs and striking out three.

The squad lost the second game 12-0 on a run rule.

Amber Tepen, Anne Baker, Cotter, and Burney each collected hits and Lexi Knisley was credited with the loss, giving up four earned runs. Errors proved costly for the Blue Jays in game two, giving up seven unearned runs.

"I'm pleased with the performance in game one but we had too many errors and a lack of focus in game two," said Westminster Head Coach Joe Henderson. "It general, it was a good start to the Classic."

Westminster takes on Guilford College from Greensboro, North Carolina, Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
