Westminster Softball Splits With Guilford

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Westminster continued its spring break trip by splitting a doubleheader with Guilford.

Westminster moves to 5-9 on the season after today's games. 

The Blue Jays lost game on 12-4, with the loss on the mound going to Mackenzie Meyers. 

After scoring two runs in the first inning, Westminster went on a scoring drought before adding two more in the sixth. Erica Burney led the team with two RBI on 2-4 hitting. 

In game two, the Blue Jays made a comeback win by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the win 11-7. 

Lexi Knisley picked up the win for the Blue Jays, her first in her college career, while giving up no runs. 

Burney again led the Blue Jays at the plate, going 3-5 with four RBI. Callie Collier had a good day at the plate as well, adding two runs and going 3-5. 

"This was finally the complete game team win we have been searching for since we started," said Westminster Head Coach Joe Henderson. "This was a high quality opponent and it took every player available." 

The Blue Jays take a couple days off before continuing the spring break trip Tuesday against St. Joseph's.
