Westminster Softball Remains Undefeated in SLIAC, Sweeps Eureka

EUREKA, Ill. - Westminster softball moved to a perfect 10-0 in SLIAC play after sweeping Eureka in a doubleheader.

The Blue Jays move to 14-14 overall and 10-0 in the SLIAC. 

Katie Price took the mound in game one, pitching seven scoreless innings to pick up the win. All of Westminster's scoring came in the top of the seventh, starting with Aubrie Vaughn reaching on a fielder's choice and scoring Macalah Danielson. Katie Price then scored on a wild pitch, and Mackenzie Myers capped off the inning with a two-run home run to put Westminster up 4-0. 

In game two, Madison Ingram earned the start, pitching five innings and giving up Eureka's ony two runs. 

Katie Price finished the final two innings, pitching two more scoreless, to move to 27 straight scoreless innings for the sophomore. 

The Red Devils scored first after loading the bases and then earning an RBI walk in the second. Westminster answered with an RBI double from Brooke Laidley to tie the game at one apiece in the third. 

Eureka took the lead again in the fourth with one run, but Westminster exploded offensively in the final three innings to take the 8-2 lead. 

Amber Tepen tied the game in the fifth with an RBI double, and again in the seventh Westminster scored six more on RBI singles from Price, Laidley, Myers, Brooklyn Bledsoe and Callie Collier

Westminster continues SLIAC play Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Fontbonne starting at 5 p.m.
