Westminster Softball Advances to SLIAC Championship Game

ST. ANN, Mo. - Despite losing the first game of the day against Greenville, Westminster defeated Webster to advance to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship tomorrow against Greenville.

The Blue Jays struggled in game one against Greenville, falling 6-0. 

Katie Price took the loss on the mound, pitching all seven innings and giving up six runs, three earned, on nine hits. 

The Blue Jays then entered a game against Webster in a win-or-go-home scenario. 

The Gorloks got on the board first on a passed ball error, but Westminster answered in the bottom of the first with two runs, the first on an RBI single from Price and the second on an RBI groundout from Madison Washington to score Amber Tepen

Westminster added their third and final run of the game in the second inning on a single to left field to score Emily Lucitt

Despite not scoring for the rest of the game, Westminster allowed just one more run from Webster in the final five innings of the game to take the game 3-2. 

Madison Ingram pitched the first 5.1 innings, allowing just two runs, one earned, to take the win. Price pitched the save in the final 1.2 innings, allowing just two hits. 

Westminster advances to the SLIAC Championship Saturday at 1 p.m. The Blue Jays must defeat Greenville in back-to-back games to claim the championship.
