Westminster Softball Drops Two in Opening Day

CONWAY, Ark. - Westminster softball fell twice on opening day to Hendrix and Centenary.

The Blue Jays took Hendix to extra innings in game one, eventually fallig 9-8 in eight innings. Westminster scored first, putting up two runs in the first inning thanks to RBIs from Taylor White and Hannah Hirschvogel.

The Warriors responded in the third to tie the game at two runs apiece, but an RBI double from Mackenzie Myers scored two runs to put Westminster back on top.

A five-run fourth inning for Hendrix gave the Warriors with 7-4 advantage. The Blue Jays scored two runs in the fifth inning and a run in the seventh and eighth to go up 8-7, but Hendrix scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the walkoff victory. 

Katie Price took the loss after pitching 6.2 innings.

In game two of the day, the Blue Jays took a 4-1 loss to Centenary. The lone Westminster run came in the first inning on a double from Madison Washington

Madison Ingram took the loss, givig up four runs on six hits. 

Westminster will make its home debut March 5 at home against Stephens with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
