Westminster Softball Earns Two Wins Over Principia

ELSAH, Ill. - Westminster softball swept the doubleheader against Principia, winning each games in five innings.

The Blue Jays improve to 4-10 overall and 4-0 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. 

Westminster earned the first win of the night 17-4, which included two RBI from Madison Washington and a win from Elizabeth Davis, the first of her career. 

Hannah Schroeder and Katie Price each earned an RBI in the first inning, but Principia came back with three runs of their own in the second inning. Davis came in relief in the second inning and pitched the remainder of the game to earn the win. 

Davis earned her first collegiate RBI in the third inning to take back the lead 6-3. The Blue Jays exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning where Washington one earned her two RBI for the game along with an RBI from Emily Holloway, while the others were scored on Panther errors. Washington, Hannah Hirschvogel, Lauren Huskey eached added an RBI in the fifth inning to take the 17-4 win after five innings. 

 In game two, the Blue Jays shut out the Panthers 11-0 in five innings. Huskey led the team with three RBI followed by two from Susan Buchanan on a triple. Schroeder led the squad with three doubles. 

Madison Ingram earned the win for her second straight shutout and two-hitter, tallying seven strikeouts. 

Westminster returns home Thursday for a nonconference battle against Monmouth. First pitch in the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
