
ST. LOUIS - Westminster women's basketball was chosen to finish third in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as decided on by a poll of the league's head coaches.
The Blue Jays are the defending regular season champions and went 21-5 overall last season with a 16-2 mark in conference play. They garnered 45 points in the poll including one first-place vote.
The team's only returning starter is second team All-Conference pick Andrea Zalis, who was selected on the DIII News Preason All-American list. She averaged 14.1 points a year ago to lead the team.
Westminster adds seven newcomers to the team to supplement the team.
Spalding topped the poll with 60 points and five first-place votes. Greenville was second with 56 points and three first-place votes.
The rest of the poll is as follows: Iowa Weslayan, Webster, Eureka, Fontbonne, MacMurray, and Blackburn.
The Blue Jays begin their season Nov. 15 with an away contest at Wash U.
