FULTON, Mo. - Westminster women's basketball suffered a 75-47 loss to top-ranked SLIAC opponent Eureka College, despite a double-double from Mirrakohl Johnson.

Westminster falls to 8-13 with the loss and 6-7 in conference play. 

"Eureka has a really nice team," said Westminster Head Coach Tracey Braden. "I'm proud of our efforts today!" 

The Blue Jays kept themselves in the game in the first quarter on five points from Savannah Hanning. The Red Devils took a double digit lead early, but freethrows from Ali Perry and Andrea Zalis kept the deficit to eight points after 10 minutes of play. 

"Ali has been coming off the bench and giving us great minutes lately," said Braden of her center. 

The Red Devils scored two buckets on top of Blue Jays fouls in consecutive possessions in the second quarter, and Westminster was down by 13 points early. 

Mirrakohl Johnson and Mikalyn Callahan pulled the Blue Jays back in the game with six points to end the half at 38-27. 

"MJ and Mikalyn have been working so well together on the floor," said Braden. 

Zalis attempted to take over in the second half, scoring the first eight points of the third quarter for Westminster. 

Eureka attempted to slow down the Blue Jay offensive efforts in the third quarter, but Westminster stayed in the game with seven made freethrows, ending the quarter down 55-40. 

Westminster struggled offensively in the fourth quarter, manaing just seven points to Eureka's 20 to eventually take the loss to the Red Devils. 

"We need to stay focused and make improvements on the defensive end," said Braden. 

Zalis led the team with 12 points followed by a double-double from Johnson, scoring 10 points and brining down 11 boards. 

The Blue Jays go on the road to face Blackburn Wednesday at 6 p.m.
