Westminster Women's Basketball Cruises Past Barclay, Breaks Scoring Record

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster women's basketball broke the gameday points record by scoring 108 points in the rout of Barclay.

The Blue Jays improve to 7-7 overall with the win.

"Tonight's game was good for us on a number of levels," said Westminster Head Coach James Arnold. "First, the more work we can get against teams that play zone, the better, and tonight we continued to make strides in executing against the zone and making shots."

Mirrakohl Johnson scored the first basket of the game and Westminster never looked back, allowing the Bears just two points in the first quarter while scoring 27.

Kendahl Adams led the way for Westminster offensively with an impressive stat line, barely missing a triple double. She scored 28 points on 10-18 shooting, and added eight rebounds, nine assists, and five steals.

Makayla Jackson added a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds, while Kendal Miller also recorded a career-high in points with 14. Mikalyn Callahan and Kelsey Ray completed the Blue Jays in double figures, scoring 13 and 11, respectively.

The 108 team points surpasses the 101 points scored in a 2002 game against Stephens. Other records broken in the win include made field goals in a game with 43, also surpassing 42 from the 2002 Stephens matchup.

Westminster returns to conference play Saturday in a home matchup against MacMurray. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

"Being on break can be tough on teams and sometimes just getting on the floor and playing can be a great relief," said Arnold. "We are excited about this 'three games in four days' challenge and think it could springboard us into a strong finish.
