Dowler Transfer Added to Westminster Women's Basketball Roster

Kallee Dowler (Barnesville, Ohio) will play on the Westminster women's basketball team next season after transferring from University of Maine-Fort Kent.

"Of all the things we did really well last year, one area we struggled was with perimeter shooting," said Westminster Head Coach James Arnold. "That's what made Kallee such an important recruit for us. I got the chance to get to know her and her family while recruiting at SEMO and we always stayed in touch. She is a basketball junkie who works extremely hard and will have a great career as a Blue Jay."

At Fort Kent, Dowler started in 22 games last season, averaging 9.4 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game.

This past season, Dowler recorded a total of 20 points against two NCAA Division I teams. She went 2-4 from behind the arc, scoring nine points, against UMass. Later that season, she added 11 points, going 3-5 from three, against Maine.

"Kallee can flat out stroke it and comes to us with a year of successful college basketball under her belt," said Arnold. "She will fit in really well and with her addition, our offense just became more potent."

As a high-schooler at Barnesville, Dowler was a four-year letter-winner on the basketball team. She was named to All-Ohio teams three times in her career, including a second team bid as a senior. She was named to All-District teams freshman through junior year, and was named the District Player of the Year as a senior.

"I chose Westminster because of the coaching staff and players," said Dowler. "I also like the small campus feel. Westminster has the state of the art Coulter Science Center and high academic standards." Dowler plans to major in biology.
