Townsend Wins SLIAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year

ST. LOUIS – Paige Townsend was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year for women's soccer.

Townsend led the conference in goals this season with 19, tying the Westminster women's soccer record for goals in a season. She also tallied nine assists for 47 total points during the year. Townsend led the team in shots with 87 and shots on goals with 51, netting two game-winners for the Blue Jays. The award is the second for Townsend, who was named to the second team last season.

Morgan Henry and Gracie Koonce were named to the SLIAC second team. Henry netted five goals, including one game-winner during the season. Koonce was second on the team in goals with 13 and added seven assists for 33 points this season. The honor is the third All-Conference award for Henry, who was named to the first team in 2015 and 2016.

Madison Ekern, Alaina Allsbury, and Honor Kehde rounded out the final All-Conference honors for the Blue Jays. All three led a strong Westminster defense that posted a 1.40 goals against average for the season, allowing just 23 goals in 17 games on the year, posting seven shutouts. The award is the second for Kehde, who was a member of the third team last season.

Heidi Gundy was named to the All-Sportsmanship team, representing the member nominated by the Head Coach who most displays the qualities of sportsmanship throughout the season.

Westminster women's soccer fell in the semifinals of the SLIAC Tournament this season, falling to No. 1 Webster after entering the tournament as the No. 4 seed.
