Westminster Women's Soccer Shuts Out Principia in Regular Season Finale

ELSAH, Ill. – Four second half goals propelled the Westminster women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Principia on Saturday. The Blue Jays finish the regular season with a record of 6-8-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the SLIAC.

The Blue Jays got a lucky break early in the second half when the Panthers gave up an own goal off of a corner kick. Kate Ponder scored a goal in the 70th minute to put the Blue Jays up 2-0. Ponder's goal was assisted by Liz Hammond.

Hammond scored a goal of her own in the 76th minute that was assisted by Emily Siegel. Ponder added another goal in the final minutes of the game to extend the lead to 4-0. The goal was her team-leading 10th of the season and it was assisted by Shannon Kauffman.

Sarah Cradick played all 90 minutes in net and made two saves to earn the shutout. She has not allowed a goal in the past seven plus games (753.24 minutes). With the win, Cradick has tied the school record for wins with 28.

The Blue Jays will compete in the SLIAC tournament as the fourth seed and will face top seed Webster on the road on Thursday.
