Blue Jays Place Third at SLIAC Tournament

The Westminster women's tennis team took third place with a 5-1 victory over Greenville College in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament. 

The Blue Jays swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead, heading into singles play with just two more points needed to win the match. The no. one duo, freshman Sydney Attebery and senior Jessica Klutts, defeated their opponent, 9-8. In the no. two spot, sophomore Payton Beeler and freshman Laural Royer won 8-6, and the no. three duo, junior Laura Kelly and senior Laura Wiltshire, won 8-5.

In singles play, Attebery won in the no. one singles spot, 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Kelsey Gerlach won the final point needed to end win the match in the no. six spot, 6-4, 6-4. 

Greenville won their point in the no. five singles, 6-3, 7-5.

The Blue Jays finish with a 6-8 record. They were 3-2 in SLIAC play and 2-1 in post season play.
