Dyson Named SLIAC Co-Coach of the Year, Royer Named All-Conference Honorable Mention

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2016 Women's Tennis awards and All-Conference Teams on May 4. Westminster's head coach Dave Dyson was announced as the SLIAC Co-Coach of the Year, and freshman Laural Royer was placed on the All-Conference Honorable Mention in the no. three singles.

Coach Dyson has coached the Blue Jays since 2010, and this is the second time in his coaching career he has been named SLIAC Coach of Year; he also won the award in 2011. Dyson led the Blue Jays to six wins this past spring including a 3-2 record in the SLIAC, finishing in third place in the SLIAC Tournament.

Royer, a freshman from Fulton, Mo., was placed on the SLIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention after holding a 2-1 conference record in the no. three singles spot. She finished the season with a 2-3 record in the threes. On the season, she posted a 4-6 record in the two, three and four singles positions.

The six conference schools vote on the team they thought displayed the best example of sportsmanship throughout the season. The Blue Jays were selected by the conference members for the 2016 Sportsmanship Award for their constant display of good sportsmanship.

Each conference school also has one student-athlete named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for their display of sportmanship. Senior Laura Wiltshire was selected by Coach Dyson and the team to receive this award for Westminster.
