The Westminster women's track and field team broke four records including two relay records and established a new record at the Dewey Allgood Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T on Saturday.
Senior Tanisha Terrell broke the two-year old 200-meter dash record, freshman Anna Houston broke the year old 400-meter hurdles record, and freshman Shannon McCaul became the first person in program history to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. To round out the broken records, the 4x100-meter relay team and the 4x400-meter relay team both shaved seconds off the previous records.
Terrell placed seventh out of 37 in the 200-meter dash, breaking the Westminster record by .32 seconds with her 26.10 time.
Houston shaved nearly seven seconds off the 400-meter hurdles record with her 1:08.67 finish, landing her in eighth place.
McCaul competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing fifth with a time of 12:38.79.
The 4x100-meter relay team, comprised of seniors Nyima Njie, Danielle Smulczenski and Terrell and freshman Taylor Howard, finished just over a second shorter than the record, placing eighth in 50.40 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Howard, Njie, Smulczenski and freshman Maria Rains, placed third with their record setting 4:10.89 time.
The Blue Jays close out their season next Saturday, April 25, at the conference invitational in St. Louis, Missouri.
