Women's Track & Field Ties for 22nd at Darrel Gourley Open

The Westminster women's track and field team tied for 22nd at the Darrel Gourley Open hosted by William Jewell College on Saturday, April 16. The Blue Jays earned three points with three competitors.

Freshman Jessie Kuykendall placed sixth out of 23 runners in the 5000-meter run, earning the team's only three points with her 19:12.62 performance.

Sophomore Taylor Howard competed in three events including the 400-meter dash, the 400-meter hurdles and the triple jump. Howard placed 23rd out of 43 runners in the 400-meter dash with a race time of 1:02.61. She placed 17th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.38, and in the triple jump, she placed 18th with a 9.10-meter jump.

Sophomore Talaysha Ruff competed in the javelin throw and shot put. She placed 21st in the javelin (20.80-meters) and 34th in the shot put (9.02-meters).

The Blue Jays next compete at the Meet of Champions hosted by Augustana College on Friday, April 22, at 4:00 pm.
