Records Fall At Day Two of UNW Tournament

St. Paul, Minn. - Elizabeth Kelly and Hannah Marshall added themselves to the record books in the second day of the UNW Labor Day Tournament. 

"We built from the success from yesterday and continued to move forward," said Head Coach Curtis Madson. 

Westminster picked up the first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Concordia-Morehead but lost the second match to top-ranked Northwestern 3-0. 

Kelly recorded an .818 set hitting percentage during game one of the day, which is No. 3 all-time at Westminster. 

"Elizabeth had a great day and will be a great college player," said Madson. 

Hannah Marshall needed three aces to stand alone in the all-time career record and now sits at the top with 124. 

Westminster earned wins in the first two sets against Concordia-Morehead and came back in the fourth set to sealthe victory. Kayla Reeg led the team in assists (50) and digs (13) in the match while Marshall added 15 kills. 

The Blue Jays fought in all three sets against Northwestern, including a 25-23 loss in the second set. Reeg added 28 assists and 11 digs while. Marshall recorded nine kills. 

"If we continue to play like this we'll be in good shape Tuesday and moving into conference play," said Madeson. 

Westminster faces Harris-Stowe Tuesday at 7 p.m. for the home opener at Historic Gymnasium.
