Westminster Volleyball Clinches Spot in SLIAC Tournament

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Westminster volleyball clinches a spot in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 3-1 win over Blackburn.

Westminster volleyball improves to 13-12 overall and 11-6 in the SLIAC. 

"We started a little slow in the first game but made some adjustments in the second game, especially offensively, and it gave us a comfortable lead. We played consistenly for the rest of the game and overall, we played well."

The Blue Jays got off to a slow start, dropping the first set 25-20. 

Westminster came back in the final three sets to take the 3-1 victory.

Sarah Rivers led the team offensively, the only Blue Jay to tally double-digit kills with 11. Madisyn Matthews added 32 assists on Westminster 43 kills. 

Bridget Ringwald remained the steady hand for the defense, recording 27 digs to put her above 2,000 for her career. 

Westminster plays their last regular season match Saturday at Principia before entering the SLIAC Tournament Nov. 3.
