No. 22 Mules Wrestling Set to Host Roger Denker Open Sunday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- No. 22-ranked Central Missouri Mules wrestling returns to the mats Sunday, Jan. 15, as it hosts the annual Roger Denker Open inside the UCM Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg beginning at 10 a.m. The tournament is named after former Mules' head coach and athletic Director, Roger Denker.

Ticket prices if purchased at the box office at the Multipurpose Building:
  • Adults: $5
  • Seniors (60 or over): $4
  • Youth (ages 6-17): $3
  • Visiting college students with a valid ID: $3
  • Military, UCM faculty & staff, UCM Emeriti and UCM students with a valid ID: FREE

About Roger Denker
Denker compiled a 143-106-4 dual meet record in 17 seasons and had 10 All-Americans while at the helm of the Mules wrestling program from 1963-1981. He led the Mules to seven MIAA Championships and six top 20 finishes at the NCAA Championships. He was a three-time MIAA Coach of the Year and had 63 national qualifiers during his tenure. His 143 dual victories are the most in program history. He was inducted into the Central Missouri Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001 and has also been enshrined in the South Dakota Wrestling Hall of Fame and Missouri Wrestling Hall of Fame. Denker passed away in November of 2021 at the age of 88.
