DUBUQUE, Iowa - In just its second season, Westminster wrestling will have a representative at the NCAA Wrestling Championships after Sean Sax placed third in the Lower Midwest Regionals.

"This is really exciting for us as a anew program," said Westminster Head Coach Tony Eierman. "Sean just never quits. Things didn't go his way in the second match, but he fought his way back, winning the rest of his matches to get back on the right side of the bracket."

The NCAA Championships take place March 8-9 in Roanoke, Virginia.

Sax defeated Tristan Birt of Millikin 9-5 in the third place match to secure his place at the NCAA Championships.

As a team, the Blue Jays placed eighth out of 17 teams.

Along with Sax, Dalton Landreth placed fourth, Kodie Bellury placed sixth, and Jacob Warren placed eighth to earn points for Westminster.

Landreth won the award for the most falls in the tournament in the shortest amount of time.

"These guys went through a lot in two days," said Eierman. "This is the toughest regional in the country and the competition was really tough. This team peaked at the right time and everyone had a great weekend."
