Westminster Men's Wrestling Places Sixth at North Central Invite

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Wrestling men's wrestling team placed sixth out of ten teams at the North Central Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Jays were led by Sean Sax, who placed second in the 149-weight class and Jacob Warren, who placed fourth at 157.

Sax received a first-round bye before defeating AJ Bethea from Augsburg 9-7 in sudden victory. Sax won his next match by tech fall to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, Sax won by major decision 13-2 to earn a spot in the championship match. In the championship match, Sax suffered his first defeat of the season in a close 10-8 loss to take second place.

Warren won his first match by fall in just 30 seconds to advance to the quarter-finals. In his second-round matchup, Warren pulled out a 3-1 sudden victory. Warren was defeated by tech fall in the semifinals and dropped the third-place match by major decision 8-0 to finish the day 2-2.

Brock Davis (125) and Dalton Landreth (141) each recorded a win for the Blue Jays in their weight brackets before being eliminated. Davis placed fifth in the 125-weight class.
