Westminster Cross Country Competes in Eagle Invite

Fayette, Mo.– The Westminster men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Eagle Invitational hosted by Central Methodist University.

"It was exciting to get the season started today at Central Methodist. We definitely still have a lot of work that needs to be done in our training but I think the group had a great start to this rebuild process that this program is currently under," first-year Head Coach Will Crocker said.

For the women's team, seniors Cara Wilfong (Columbia, Mo. / Rock Bridge) and Charlotte Blair (Montreal, Mo. / Camdenton) finished 21st and 22nd in the 5K with times of 22:56.8 and 23:00.4 respectively. This meet was Wilfong's first career cross country race.

Sam Moore placed 38th in the men's 6K with a personal best time of 23:28.0. Billy Murphy placed 49th with a time of 28:55.8.

"I am excited for the rest of this season to see how much this team continues to grow and improve as the cross country season progresses," said Crocker.

Both teams will compete again next weekend at the Six Flags Meet in Eureka, Mo.
