Blue Jays Shine On Senior Night

Fulton, Mo 2/10/2022- The Westminster College men's wrestling took on the Fontbonne University Griffins in their first and only home duel of the season. Before the matches got on the way, Westminster would honor its three seniors, Brock Davis (Columbia, Mo. / Rock Bridge), Dalton Landreth (Marshall, Mo/ Marshall), Will Harper (Plano, Tex. / Homeschooled). The Blue Jays would win the duel 28-12.

Landreth would get things started for the men at the 141-pound weight class and he faced off against Daniel Bauer from Fontbonne. It was a physical contest from start to finish, with Landreth pinning Bauer at the 4:10 mark.

Next up would be Colton Thompson. He would compete against Joshua Presley in the 149-pound weight division. It was a back-and-forth match with Thompson coming out on top with a major decision victory, 13-4.

In the 157-pound weight class, Jackson Beene (Seneca, Il. / Seneca) imposed his will on the Griffins Joe Buck, pinning him in 54 seconds.

Harper competed in the 165-pound weight class and would get pinned at the 14-second mark.

Chris Corley (Tipton, MO / Tipton) would get a forfeit victory in the 197-pound weight class.

In the last match of the night, senior Brock Davis took on Fontbonne's Jorduan Griffin at 125-pounds. Davis would by pinfall at the 1:08 mark. After the match, Davis would take off his shoes and leave them in the center of the mat, signaling his retirement from the sport. He would embrace his coach, Tony Eierman, when he walked off the mat. Westminster congratulates Brock on his storied career and his contributions to the wrestling team.

The Westminster men's wrestling team will compete again at the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional on February 26th and 27th.
