Morris, MN 10/14/2023- The Westminster College football team traveled north on Saturday to take on the Minnesota-Morris Cougars on a chilly Saturday in Minnesota.  The Cougars would win the game 45-0 and improve to 3-3 on the year and remain undefeated in the UMAC at 2-0. The Blue Jays fall to 1-5 on the season and drop to 1-2 in the UMAC.

Both teams would punt on their opening drives of the game. The Cougars would score on their next possession, capping off a fifty-five-yard drive with a five-yard touchdown run to take an early 7-0 lead. They would go on to score five more touchdowns and a field goal in the game. The Blue Jay would turn the ball over twice and that led to excellent field position for the Cougars.

Minnesota- Morris would hold the Westminster offense to ninety-one yards of total offense. Dante Billups rushed for twenty-two yards and also had twelve-yards receiving. Makel McFarland had twenty-yards rushing, and the freshman had the longest play of the day for the Blue Jays, getting loose on a fourteen-yard run.

Deacon Steadman led the Blue Jay defense with ten tackles on the day. Darvin Fowler was a menace in the Cougar backfield, recording two sacks. Devin Miller was also in the Minnesota- Morris backfield recording two and half tackles for a loss.

The Blue Jays return to Fulton and will take on Minnesota-Morris again next Saturday, but this time in front of the home crowd at Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
