Shoemaker Breaks Shot Put Record at Darrel Gourley Open

Freshman Logan Shoemaker broke the Westminster modern day shot put record at the William Jewel Darrel Gourley Open on Saturday, April 11. The Westminster Blue Jays placed 17th out of 19 with eight points.

Shoemaker placed second in the shot put with his 14.81-meter throw, earning the team's only 8 points. He also competed in discus, finishing with a 16.49-meter throw.

Junior Christian Houston and Jaleel Hood also threw shot put. Houston placed 27th with an 11.07-meter throw, and Hood threw 7.56-meters. Houston also competed in hammer throw, throwing 38.61-meters.

Senior Michael Lutz threw the discus 29.00-meters, placing 27th, and freshman Ryan Dyer participated in the javelin, finishing with a 32.40-meter throw.

On the track side, freshman Glenn Teubner finished 10th in 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:46.36.

Senior Daniel Breihan competed in 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash, the long jump and the high jump. He finished the 200 with a time of 24.37 seconds and placed 25th in the 400 with a time of 54.86 seconds. He placed 17th in the high jump with his 1.63-meter jump and 18th in the long jump with a 5.73-meter jump.

Senior Daniel Lindaman placed 14th in 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:10.51, and freshman Addison Conway finished 17th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.98.

Ryan Dyer competed in the 800-meter run, finishing in 30th place with a time of 2:05.65.

The Blue Jays will participate in the Dewey Allgood Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T on Saturday, April 18.
