Blue Jays Compete in Missouri S&T's Dewey Allgood Invitational

The Westminster men's track and field team had 14 compete in Missouri S&T's Dewey Allgood Invitational on Saturday, April 18. The Blue Jays had six finish in the top ten, but no team scores were reported. 

On The Track

The Blue Jays had two top five finishes on the track. Freshman Glenn Teubner placed fifth out of 14 in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:39.85, and junior Jesse Edwards placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a final time of 16:24.35.

The 4x100-meter relay team, comprised of senior Daniel Breihan, freshman Addison Conway, junior Hussein Attara and sophomore Tj Tjikuzu, placed seventh, finishing in 46.29 seconds. Sophomore Ryan Dyer finished the 800-meter run in 2:00.74, placing ninth out of 28. 

Rounding out the track events for the Blue Jays were Breihan in the 400-meter dash (54.27, 18th) and Conway in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.32, 12th).

On The Field

The Blue Jays finished the field side of the Invitational with two top three finishes. Junior Bret Robertson placed second out of 28 competitors in the javelin throw with his 51.97-meter throw. Also competing in the javelin was Dyer (35.07m, 20th) and freshman Sam Kroll-Taugsolo (31.14m, 22nd). The other top three finish came from freshman Logan Shoemaker in the shot put. He grabbed third out of 22 throwers with his 13.34-meter throw. Also throwing was junior Christian Houston (11.96m, 14th), senior Louvis Johnson (10.46m, 16th) and freshman Jaleel Hood (7.96m, 22nd). 

Two Blue Jays competed in the hammer throw. Leading the way for the Blue Jays was senior Michael Lutz with an 11th place finish and a 37.03-meter throw. Houston placed 17th with a 31.42-meter throw. Lutz also threw discus, placing 22nd with a 26.81-meter throw. 

Breihan rounded out the field events in the long jump with a 3.54-meter jump.

The men's track and field team close out their season on Saturday, April 25, at the conference invitational in St. Louis, Missouri.
