Eureka, IL, 10/29/21 – The Westminster College Blue Jays women's soccer team entered the final game of the regular season knowing that they were locked into the number five seed of next week's SLIAC Postseason Conference Tournament. The game against the Eureka College Red Devils would still give the Blue Jays a chance to even their SLIAC record and continue to build momentum for this coming Tuesday's SLIAC Tournament Quarterfinal. The Blue Jays would accomplish both in their 5-0 road victory over the Red Devils. The win improves the Jays record to 7-9 overall and 7-7 in SLIAC play.
The lone first half goal for the Blue Jays came in the 25th minute when Madi Lenk (Troy, MO / Troy Buchanan High School) slotted a pass to Rachel Nolte (Wentzville, MO / Holt High School) for her seventh goal of the season and a 1-0 lead for the Blue Jays. That would be all for the first half.
In the second half Blue Jay midfielder Lauren Halamicek (St. Louis, MO / Oakville High School) would score off of assists by Maddy Lawton (Wentzville, MO / Timberland) and Payton Heevner (Warrensburg, MO / Warrensburg) in the 49th minute to up the Jays lead to 2-0. It was Halamicek's fourth goal of the season. Halamicek would strike again for her fifth goal of the season in the 66th minute off of a pass from Delaney Kaiser (Jefferson City, MO / Jefferson City) to make it 3-0.
Less than a minute later Kaiser assisted on Nolte's second goal of the game to make it 4-0. The goal was Nolte's team leading eighth goal of the season. Senior Becca Bond (Midwest City, OK / Carl Albert) would finish off the scoring for the Blue Jays off of an assist by Savannah Feltrop (Jefferson City, MO / Helias) to make it 5-0. The goal was Bonds first collegiate goal of her career as a Blue Jay. Blue Jay goalkeeper Megan Davidson (St. Louis, MO / Affton High School) went the distance in goal for her fourth shutout of the season and tenth of her career.
The Blue Jays will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Spalding University in Louisville, KY for the SLIAC Tournament Quarterfinal. The time of the game is still to be determined.
