Blue Jays Complete Second Conference Sweep With 9-0 Win Over Fontbonne

The Westminster women's tennis team completed their second conference sweep in two days with a 9-0 victory over Fontbonne on Sunday. The Blue Jays completed their conference season with a 2-3 record and are now 3-5 overall.

The match began with singles play. Junior Jessica Klutts defeated Fontbonne in the one spot, 6-0 and 6-2. In the second spot, freshman Payton Beeler defeated her opponent 7-6, 6-0. Sophomore Laura Kelly also had a close first set with her opponent in the number three spot, but came out on top with scores of 7-5 and 6-2. Freshman Ellen Woolsey and junior Laura Wiltshire both swept their opponents in the fourth and fifth spot, respectively, with scores of 6-0. Junior Grace Sanford won by default in the sixth spot.

In doubles play, Beeler and Woolsey paired up in the one spot and won with an 8-1 score. In the second spot, Wiltshire and junior Jamie Striler won 8-2. Sanford and Kelly won in the third spot by default. 

The Blue Jays will round out their regular season with an away match at Stephens College on Tuesday, April 14, at 4:00 p.m.
