Women's Volleyball: Blue Jays Host Greenville University Preview

Fulton, Mo. - The Westminster College Blue Jay women's volleyball team is home for the second game in a row this Wednesday.  Head Coach Natalia Koryzna and her team will take the floor Wednesday against last season's SLIAC regular season champions Greenville University in their first of two matchups this season.

 Taking a look at the Westminster College Blue Jays (2-0, 2-0 SLIAC):

  • The Blue Jays were picked as one of three favorites to take home the SLIAC title in this years SLIAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll.
  • Last time out the Blue Jays remained unbeaten on the season with a 3-1 victory over the Blackburn College Beavers (23-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18).
  • The Westminster attack is anchored by Haley Menke with 25 kills and Eryka Wanyonyi with 20.
  • Gretchen Durbala checks in with 69 assists. Her 8.63 assists per set is good for 3rd overall in the SLIAC.
  • The Blue Jay defense is powerd by current SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week Erica Schrader with 33 digs.  Wanyonyi follows with 21.
  • Wanyonyi leads the team with three service aces.

 Taking a look at the Greenville College Panthers (3-0, 3-0 SLIAC):

  • Greenville was one of the two teams tied with the Blue Jays at the top of the SLIAC Pre-season Coaches Poll.
  • Greenville comes into the match also undefeated after taking down Iowa Wesleyan University  3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-19) last Thursday.
  • The Panther attack is led by Anna Finch with 31 kills, followed by Amanda Hollis 28, Jasmin Smith 25 and Emily Stahl with 23.
  • Jordan Lempa leads the Panther with 107 assists.
  • Greenville's defense is led by Smith with 38 digs and Hollis with 29.
  • Lempa leads the SLIAC with 13 service aces.
